TURFGRASS FIELD DAY FORMAT CHANGE

The Turfgrass Science Team at the University of Nebraska has decided to change the format of their traditional turfgrass field day.  In 2003, in lieu of a single field day there will be at least two field days targeted specifically for segments of the turfgrass industry.

On July 22, 2003 the University in cooperation with the Nebraska Sports Turf Managers Association will host a meeting in Lincoln.  This meeting will tour Haymarket Park and UNL facilities and enjoy lunch in the skybox area in Memorial Stadium.

On September 8, 2003, the Nebraska Golf Course Superintendents Association and UNL will host a meeting at The Arbor Links Golf Course in Nebraska City.  Graduate students working on the "greens construction research" being conducted will make a presentation followed by lunch and golf.

The long term plan for changes to field day format will include the traditional field day at the John Seaton Anderson Turfgrass Research facility in even numbered years and a "segment targeted" field day in odd numbered years.

For more information on this change or specific information on the two scheduled field days scheduled for 2003 contact Roch Gaussoin (402-472-8619), Anne Streich (402-472-1640) .
